County Line Dark Skies is a local initiative to support and comply with the Santa Monica Mountains Dark Sky Ordinance. Our goal is to reduce light pollution, protect sensitive habitats, and preserve the beauty of our night skies
10 PM – sunrise, or whenever people leave the area (whichever is later)
Color temperature — must be 2700K or lower (warm yellow light)
Lights for safety/security at entries, gates, and walkways
Brightness — 850 lumens max for most fixtures
Fixtures that direct all light downward
